YGTTA triple crown for Swetapadma Dalai

Bhubaneswar girl Swetapadma Dalai bagged a treble, winning junior, sub-junior and cadet singles titles in the 26th YGTTA All-Odisha Open Table Tennis Tournament, which was organised by Young Men’s Christian Table Tennis Association (YGTTA), under the aegis of Odisha State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) here at Sachin Tendulkar Indoor Hall, Barabati Stadium from August 30 to September 1, 2018.

Bikash Singh of Rourkela Steel Plant and Ankita Senapati of Bhubaneswar emerged men’s and women’s singles champion respectively. Local boy Sahil Suman Bhuyan bagged double, claiming both the youth and sub-junior singles titles. The top honours in junior and cadet boys’ singles events were pocketed by Bhubaneswar players Krishan Prusty and Anindya Anupam Das respectively.

Odisha Athletic Association secretary Asirbad Behera handed over the trophies in the closing ceremony. OSTTA secretary Rabindra Kumar Parida, vice-president Chitta Ranjan Mohanty, organizing secretary Nihar Ranjan Mishra, YGTTA president Gouri Bose and chief referee Jiban Ballav Samal were present on the occasion.

Men’s singles: Bikash Singh (RSP) bt Snehamay Mallik (AG Odisha) 4-1 (11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-7).
Women’s singles: Ankita Senapati (BBSR) bt Poushali Ghatak (AG Odisha) 4-1 (11-9, 5-11, 11-7, 11-9, 14-12).
Youth boys’ singles: Sahil Suman Bhuyan (Cuttack) bt M Eeshwar Rao (Cuttack) 3-1 (10-12, 11-7, 11-9, 11-5).
Junior boys’ singles: Krishan Prusty (BBSR) bt Sahil Suman Bhuyan 3-2 (12-14, 11-9, 10-12, 11-6, 11-7).
Junior girls’ singles: Swetapadma Dalai (St Xaviers, BBSR) bt Yoshita Jamula (Khurda) 3-1 (11-9, 12-10, 9-11, 11-3).
Sub-junior boys’ singles: Sahil Suman Bhuyan bt Dwarikanath Swain (Khurda) 3-0 (11-7, 11-5, 11-7).
Sub-junior girls’ singles: Swetapadma Dalai bt Sushree Patnaik (Khurda) 3-0 (12-10, 11-7, 11-5).
Cadet boys’ singles: Anindya Anupam Das (BBSR) bt Jigyanshu Sahoo (Cuttack) 3-0 (11-8, 11-3, 11-7).
Cadet girls’ singles: Swetapadma Dalai bt Swastika Adabar (Cuttack) 3-0 (12-10, 11-7, 11-6).
